The Continuing Engineering Education and Training Center (CEETC), UET Lahore, has successfully launched a six-week Employee Wellness Fitness Program at the New Campus, aimed at promoting physical health, mental well-being, and workplace productivity among faculty and staff. The program commenced at the start of the week on Monday, May 4, 2026, and will continue until Thursday, June 11, 2026. Sessions are being planned at the Health Clinic, UET Lahore (New Campus), during break hours from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, enabling convenient participation alongside regular work commitments.

The initiative is now in full swing, with active participation from faculty members and officers across various Departments, Centers and Offices. Fifteen participants are enrolled in the first batch. The program is structured around four key thematic areas: Balance & Core Fitness, Back Care & Posture Training, Functional Strength Training and Stress Relief & Flexibility.

An inaugural ceremony, featuring formal ribbon-cutting held today, May 5, 2026, symbolically marking the official commencement of this wellness initiative. Prof. Dr. Amjad Hussain (Campus Coordinator, UET Lahore, New Campus) graced the event as the Chief Guest. Members of the visiting Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Re-Accreditation Evaluation Team attended as Guests of Honour, including Engr. Dr. Mahmood Ashraf Khan (Team Lead, CUI Islamabad), Engr. Dr. Mohammad Younas (UET Peshawar), Engr. Dr. Zaka Ullah Sheikh (Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission), Engr. Dr. Amir Mahmood Soomro (Mehran UET, Jamshoro), Prof. Engr. Dr. Zia Mohy Ud Din (Air University), and Engr. Mirza Farquleet Baig (PEC).

The distinguished guests appreciated the initiative and commended the efforts of Dr.-Ing. Izzat Iqbal Cheema, Director-CEETC, for introducing a structured and impactful wellness program within the university. They emphasized that a healthy body supports a healthy mind, which is essential for improved focus, productivity, and overall professional effectiveness. The guests further shared their intent to replicate and promote similar wellness initiatives in their respective institutions.

The training sessions are being conducted by Mr. Abbas Ali, an experienced fitness professional with expertise in university sports and gymnasium management. His structured and inclusive approach ensures safe participation for individuals across all fitness levels.

Looking ahead, a second batch dedicated to female colleagues is planned as part of the next phase. In addition, a seminar series on health, fitness, and lifestyle management will be organized to further strengthen awareness and engagement. The program is expected to expand in future phases, with plans to extend participation opportunities to employees across all cadres of the university.
